If you are like many of us, finding low-sodium products that taste good isn’t that easy.  Soup is a classic example.  It seems the perfect example of a healthy food that tastes good, yet has vast heaps of salt.  As examples:

  • Progresso Reduced Sodium Minestrone soup – 480mg sodium per 1-cup serving
  • Campbell’s Healthy Request Southwest-Style Bean & Barley soup – 410mg per 1-cup serving
  • Healthy Choice Hearty Chicken soup – 480mg sodium per 1-cup serving

All are between 17% and 20% of the recommended daily allowance for sodium.  “Low Sodium” is defined as less than 140mg per serving.

RYKRISP has the following sodium levels per 2-cracker serving:

  • Natural – 60mg
  • Light Rye – 65mg
  • Seasoned & Sesame – 90mg
  • Multi-grain – 95mg

The point is you can find healthy and delicious snacks without lots of sodium.  Eat them plain or add your own topping and you’re still likely to keep the salt intake at a healthy level.
